Merry Christmas from the Mouse House

Although I haven’t been feeling in a particularly festive mood up to now, yesterday I finally brought out my ‘lazy person’s pre-decorated Christmas tree’ from its hiding place in the cupboard under the stairs. I told the story of its existence last year although I did think maybe it was past its best and I should get a new one, however I decided instead just to update it this time with some gold tinsel instead of the existing silver. There’s only one thing wrong though – the gold tinsel just doesn’t look right with the silver decorations, it’s too fussy, so when I get a minute later on I’ll be putting the silver tinsel back.Β

And now for something completely silly. A couple of weeks ago I bought Snowy and Poppie a Christmas jumper each, which they hadn’t worn up to now but yesterday they had to suffer the indignity of having tinsel wrapped round their collars and their photos taken just for this blog page. Of course being the obedient little dogs they are (not) neither of them would stand still or look at me both at the same time so out of 13 shots only these six were anything like usable, with my own personal favourite being the last one in this sequence.

Seasons greetings
to all my blog readers, both regular and recent, with very best wishes from me, Michael, Snowy & Poppie – I hope everyone can make Christmas as good as these strange times and changing circumstances will allowΒ  x

  1. Oh. bless them! Don’t they look smart. I used to dress my smaller dog in a Christmas jumper, but my Patterdale wouldn’t entertain the idea πŸ™‚
Merry Christmas to you and your family, Eunice. X

It’s funny but knowing that you have Mog I’ve never thought of you as ever having dogs – for some reason you strike me as being more of a cat person. You don’t say what breed your smaller dog was but I’m sure he/she must have looked cute in a Christmas jumper πŸ™‚

  2. I think your girls have secretly ticked the ‘no publicity’ box and gang up to make your life as a photographer as awkward as possble! Perhaps you need to start sneaking up on them when they’re asleep 😘

Best wishes for a safe holiday for you all, roll on next week when I can take the decorations down and get back to whatever passes for normal these days! xxx

    1. When I had Sophie she and Poppie would pretty much stay put while I took their photos but Snowy is such a little live wire she’s passing on her ‘naughty’ streak to Poppie – it’ll be anarchy before long πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Have a lovely Christmas Jayne, no doubt you’ll be quilting/felting/gardening or maybe just curling up in front of the log burner? πŸ™‚

    1. I actually got them a reindeer hat each but they were a bit too big and it wasn’t easy trying to fasten something under the chin of a wriggling dog so I gave up and resorted to the tinsel πŸ™‚ The things I do just to get photos for this blog! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  4. Christmas has been the same for me for several years regardless of what’s going on around me. There’s only myself and Michael so it’ll just be a quiet one spent at home and to be honest that’s just the way I like it, though I’m hoping the weather will be nice enough to go for a couple of good dog walks πŸ™‚

  6. I was going to change the tinsel back to silver but decided to leave the tree as it is for now, and Snowy and Poppie are under strict instructions to keep their new festive jumpers clean πŸ™‚

  7. We had a lovely quiet day Susan. An afternoon dog walk round the locality but mainly being lazy and watching tv – I watched White Christmas for the second time in a week, I really love that film. Sadly they don’t make them like that any more 😦
